110RD50 Cutting out after use

G'day,

My 110RD50 has been trouble since I picked it up second hand.

The 1st channel (clean) cuts in and out after around 1/2 hour of use.

The second channel (overdrive, I'm guessing the solid state channel?) is unaffected.

I'm also using a step-down transformer, being in Australia (240v)

Any thoughts to the cause?
I've had it serviced multiple times, no one seems to be able to solve it

Hi there,

if the limiter channel always works, the cause for the clean channel cutting out are limited to one of the following:

1. Problem in one half of IC-1 (not super likely, but still a possibility)
2. Problem in the socket of IC-1
3. Problem in the clean channel treble control
4. Issue with C15 or (less likely) R24
5. Issue with clean channel volume control
6. Issue in the switching circuit (IC-2)

Either way, if the symptom can be replicated on the bench, it is a matter of basic signal tracing to find out which of the above problems are causing it.
