Okay, I replaced the filter caps and the usually recommended elecrolytics. I put in a new set of JJ 6L6's. Still the same problem - a harsh, raspy tone in the mid-range no matter how I adjust the knobs (low bass is good). Is that what this amp is supposed to sound like? (If I run my bass through a Sansamp BDDI into the MM input it sounds good). Any suggestions? |

Yeah, I know. It's a subjective thing. I use Gallien Krueger amps - their tone is clean and can be made nasty. I've played bass through Fender Showman amps and they can sound smooth and creamy until driven to distortion. My HD-150 always sounds a little raspy, although the tone controls do make changes to the sound, but never "smooth and creamy." It's the same on both channels. I have not tried other instruments since I don't play 'em, but have wondered if the tone would work for guitar. Will have to get "MR. Guitar" to try it. |
