RD/RP 65 square magnet speaker?
Dear Forum,
I am waiting for an eBay 'pound puppy' amp to arrive via FedEx. In the meantime I got looking at a picture of what I bought and noticed that the speaker in this RP 65 112 has the square magnet with the bump in the middle (see picture). They appear to look sort of like the A12G-HD found in the HD130 212 combo and the 212RH cabinet but are marked A12GS
Previously I have owned two RD 65 112 - one with the EL34 tubes and one with the 6L6. Both had the round (ceramic) magnet C12G speakers, both had black badges. I have seen pictures of really early silver badge RD amps with the original A12G horseshoe magnet (same as I have in my older 65 112 reverb), as well as black badge ones with the A12G. A little google image search turned up a few amps that have black badges, like the one I am getting, with this square magnet speaker.
Can anybody confirm that this square-with-bump speaker was original to these amps at one point? If so, I'm thinking they must fit time-wise between black badge combined with A12G horseshoe and black badge combined with round magnet C12G.
Can't wait to find out if I got an EL34 or a 6L6 amp - but based on that speaker I'm thinking the former is more likely.
Cheers

Interesting! I’m not sure if this is original to your amp but I have seen these in a 412GS speaker cabinet, which could explain the “GS” suffix, The 67 number confirms it’s an Eminence.
