Smell

1)it's been 10 years or more since I had a music man. I just bought one off of Facebook when I plugged it in. I remember it being a smell but my smell sounds more like a warm electrical smell. should there be somewhat of the smell coming from the tubes getting warm or is this not a good sign?
2)The grill cloth is in terrible shape. IT HAS been replaced at some point but not a good job. Is there a good way to get the front face off without damaging anything?

The baffle is screwed from the inside.
Just remove the chassis and speaker, and take the baffle out.
Smell
First you need to keep the Magic Blue Smoke "inside" the components. Once the smoke escapes, the part is kaput, and the amp won't work properly :-)
