WTB MM 210-65

I’m searching for a early Music Man 210 Sixty-five amp (with the 12AX7 phase inverter). Are there any out there?

Hiya,

Just wondering what your thoughts are on current production tubes. I've heard JJs have been weak recently. The KT88s I modded my 65 with were crap and on the Hi setting so I've switched back to EL34s but being cautious with tubes and running in Low.

I haven't used any JJ's from recent manufacture but I ONLY bought mine from Eurotubes and NEVER had any issues, even when tubes bought from other sources WERE having problems. Mike.

...as I haven't purchased new tubes in quite some time. However, the JJs, Winged Cs, and Sovteks I've used all work fine without incident. Prefer older US tubes when I can find them (Sylvania, GE, Phillips, RCA, etc). As always, rebias correctly after retubing.

I'm looking out for some old tubes for the first and I'm dropping different ones in and out.

While this thread is alive I've got another question regarding biasing.

My 210 sixty five runs 780 volts stable. I've just been going off the 25mv across the emitter resister method. Because there's quite a few more volts on the plate compared to stock (is it 720 on this amp?) Would it be better to bias it cooler?

Absolutely. You don't know, unless you are measuring tubes separately if one is pulling a crapload more current. Even measuring tubes separately, I set mine at 22ma-23 with a 12ax7a driver and they last. Mike.

I have an early Sixty-Five Reverb head with the 12AX7. I was thinking about finding a 210 cab for it, or selling it as I have a HD130 Reverb also.
