212 65 Chassis No. 2475-65 Mains Power

I have acquired a 212- 65 and discovered the power requirement is 120 volt mains as detailed on the back panel plate. I live in the UK so I wish to know if there is a 250v tap on the primary winding on the existing transformer, or do I have to source a replacement (Euro)transformer ?
Please advise.

Hi Alan,
if this amp was originally sold in North America, the mains transformer does not have a tap for 220/250V. You can get a replacement transformer from www.tubeampdoctor.com . Please note, if your amp is the old type with the 12AX7/ECC83 phase splitter tube (valve), a slight modification is required. The modification is documented in a Music Man service bulletin that you can download from this forum's website.

Thank you for you help with my query. Yes it does have a 12AX7/ECC83 phase splitter so I'll check out the service bulletin. I'll power it up with a variac before I go any further just to make sure the amp is in a reasonable condition and the output transformer is OK. I aim to fit EL34's as I understand this is a straight swop out without modification.

Straight swap yes but I DO suggest tightening and cleaning the sockets when you replace them. That amp is 1974-77 or so and it may have loosened up a little. Just my 2c's worth. It could use a cap job too. They're 30+ years old. Mike.
