In the January 2005 issue of Vintage Guitar magazine in their Fretprints column article on Merle Travis (page 86), the following is mentioned:
"While it is likely that Merle used Gibson, Magnatone and Fender amps prior to aquiring these (Standel amps), his Standels were the only amps he ever endorsed. In later years, Merle also used a Music Man amplifier built for him by Leo Fender."
