Well, we took our amp and cabinets to a tech and we found out the amp was in good condition (thank god), but both of the speakers in the two cabinets were blown. Oddly enough, what we all think happened was that during a flood in our basement, moisture seeped into the pole piece of the speaker and did some damage to the coils(thats all that we can think of). Well, now to the dilemma. Each cabinet contains one Electro-Voice EVM-15L 15" speaker. I have been looking on EV's website, but cannot find this speaker(no surprise sense it is about 30 years old). Well, I want to find speakers that are comparable to this speaker and work the most effeciently in the ported cabinet that we already have. There is always the possibility of trying to get the speakers reconed, but I would rather just buy something new. Does anyone have any idea where I could buy these same speakers or speakers that are very very similar?
Sorry for the long post

If you want the same high power capabilities, I would look at the Weber California series. THey are what I put in the 2-10 and they are great. Reasonable too, compared to Altec and JBL. You can look on their sight and pick the sound you want and pick a speaker to match. An if that fails, you can call Ted and ask him. He loves to talk speakers> Mike. www.webervst.com

i would get it rebuilt
they dont make speakers like they used to
and your looking at about $90 each for a full rebuild
i think it would be worth
it would also keep these babies original

Your better off reconing those babies, since Eltrovoice no longer makes 200 watt 15" speakers. The replace Electravoice is a 300 or 400 watt version, I beleive. Be ready to pay if you want new ones.

Well, at $90 a speaker per recone I might as well look into something new with newer technology. Is there a phone number for EV?

im not sure if its $90 but its definately
$125 AUS for full rebuild ie cone and coil
most speakers are shitty chinese crud these days
why not try and get your hands on some vintage speakers? you might be able to pick up some dead 15" eminence speakers for free and get them rebuilt
personally when i comes to musicman i would stick with the original as the were designed for the amp as MUSICMAN will not hesitate to tell you
or try jammin jersy for SH ev's

I have 2 vintage electro voice aristocrat speakers that I picked up at a garage sale last weekend. They are both complete and in very nice shape and sound great. They are 3 way speakers and each have a 12" sp128 speaker, t10a horn and t35b tweeter. There is also 2 crossovers in each cabinet x825 & x36. On the side of each cabinet is 2 control knobs for brilliance and presence. I don't know much about speakers and was wondering if someone could tell me anything about them and what they are worth,I'm inclined to keep them but I may sell them. They are in the San diego area.

I wouldn't be plugging these things into my Music Man guitar amplifier anytime soon!

I have two EVM's: a 15L and 15B in the EV reference design TL606. They sound great and are totally worth the rebuild. Your cabinets may be TL606's: check your demensions against the specs...http://archives.telex.com/archives/EV/Bu ilders%20Plans/TL606%20Builders%20Plans. pdf
The price of 12L EVM's are ~$250.00/each, they don't make the big boys anymore.
