Johnny Winter & 410HD-130 (Guitar One)

In the "Backline Blueprint" feature in the April 2005 Guitar One magazine, Johnny Winter is the featured artist and a silver-badged Music Man 410HD is the centerpiece of the 3/4 page photo!
From the article:
"For many years now, Winter has favored the hybrid tube and solid-state sound of Music Man amps. At the moment he's using one Music Man 410RD ** admin comment: incorrect, that should have been 410HD** loaded with Celestion Vintage 10s. (In the past he had been known to combine up to six of these amps). Still a fan of high end, he sets all his tone knobs to "0" (except for the treble, which is turned up to "10") and uses no reverb. Interestingly, Winter uses an old Boss CE-2 chorus pedal - with the rate at 10 o'clock and the depth at 2 0'clock - to add girth to his tone. While it's not your typical blues effect, it's always on and runs exclusively on 9V batteries."

I've heard many times his standard set-up is two 410HD, one for playing + one for backup on standby, and depending on the rooms acoustics will occasionally use a 212 130HD. This pictures seems to confirm it, only one is being mic'ed.

Treble on 10 and everything else off?????? WOW i will have to try that one.
I notice in this picture.. and others i have seen.. the mike in the middle of the speaker array, not on the cone of any particular speaker... it's pointed at the baffleboard. Anyone else notice this? Whats that do to the sound?

Not only that, but there's a second mic behind the amp. I've heard of this combination, but typically the front mic is a little further out. I wonder if this gives it somewhat of an off-axis tone?

Having the microphones where they seem to be in the photo would certainly take some of that treble edge off! Treble on "10" could be painful!
