Is Fender style Tolex the substitute for the original?

The "modern" Fender Tolex is not quite the same although it will work. The newer stuff has a coarser "grain" to the pattern than the original but is probably the closest you will find among the widely available Tolex-style coverings.
I have used the modern Fender Tolex to recover a 112RD-100 of mine and you can't tell it isn't original from 5 or 6 feet away.
I intend to recover my 210RD-100-EVM in Brown tolex and use Wheat grill cloth just to be different! I am not personally stuck on keeping everything as factory stock as long as it is done well and looks good!

Got this cabinet and it was in some water or a damp place. The joints were starting to come apart. Reglued it all and clamped. It was in bad shape.

Starting to put it back together. Decided to use blue tolex. It was a hard decision, but now like it. Repainted speaker board and fixed a couple of bad spots.

Just about done. I am going to use it for a speaker cabinet. Left the holes for chassis. Need to come up with a plate where the chassis was. It is nice to take a junk cab and restore it and think it may around for another 30 years!!!
