Hi everybody, after replacing the two power caps I thought it might be a good idea to swap all the electrolytic caps for new and fresh ones, I also want to replace the two 2uF electrolytic caps with "normal" film caps. I ran into the problem that some of the values are not available over here in Europe, but I think its always a good idea to stick with the original nominal values from the factory. It seems that I cant get 2uF and 400uF caps over here, only 2.2uF and 470uF. Also 150uF is not easy to get as an axial type. What I need is: |

Hi Dirk Some of the caps you are looking for are not in a RD50, like the 450V/100 and the 25V/2. |

In my opinion it's a waste of time and money. It is a good thing replacing old power caps (more than two: high and low voltage rectifying caps). In the case of low voltage you can use caps with a bigger value of capacitance than originals and, of course bigger value of voltage. For high voltage caps it's recommended use same values of capacitance (or very near values) - tubes are not opamps (but you can use higher maximum working voltages). |

Here is a quick opinion from a guy who knows very little about amp circuits, but digs MM Tone; unless you're after a certain mod, put the caps in that are supposed to be in. It can't cost that much for the handful of caps that he's talking about, even to ship to merry olde England. What, a few quid? 15 bob? |
